Home Pregnancy Tests: Are They Really Accurate?

Nowadays, woman wait a very short amount of time to find out if they are pregnant. Home pregnancy tests are not only private but can be used very early on so the drama is removed for the woman who either is looking forward to pregnancy in excited anticipation or in dread. Offered at inexpensive prices and found at almost any store or online, women have many options for purchasing pregnancy tests.

How do home pregnancy tests work?

When a woman is impregnated there is a hormone that is released called HCG which stands for human chorionic gonadotropin. The level of detection of the hormone will intensify through the advancement of the pregnancy. The hormone is released after fertilization of the egg.

Sometimes if the test is used a couple of days prior to the time the period should begin the HCG hormone will show but for greater accuracy it is best to wait until the time for the first period has passed. If the stages of the HCG hormone has progressed more the test will be clearer. Over the counter pregnancy test share similarities in physical characteristics of a thermometer. Fill a cup of morning urine and dip the pregnancy test in it to ensure the best results. Instructions are unique to the different test. The tests are similar in nature but have different things about them. Some pregnancy tests require a chemical reaction with a powder.

Does a negative test really mean you are not pregnant?

It depends. Women take test earlier than the hormone is present. If your period is not coming even after a week, retake the test. Also, when you test if there was a trace amount of protein or blood in the urine the test will report a negative result. Diuretics and other medications can change results.

Visit the doctors office if you feel uncertain with your pregnancy test. Doctors will provide accurate outcomes.

Clarifying a Pregnancy Test:

Detecting hormones through home pregnancy test are accurate. The truth is that home pregnancy tests cannot spot early pregnancy most of the time.

Accurate results are better produced when following directions. Be patient and wait the proper amount of time when using a home test to view results. If you look too soon or wait too long then you will be seeing incorrect results.

If the HCG hormone is active, it will show better with the first urine of the morning.
