Headache Triggers
Sometimes you can feel a headache coming on and know just by where you are that this is the cause for you headache, for example- you are in a room with too many screaming children, a very loud TV, or the construction going on just outside your office window just won't stop. Other times the pain can sneak up on you and cause such pain as to debilitate you for the rest of the day.
It isn't always clear as to why a headache is brought on so suddenly or more but there is hope. If you can locate or understand key triggers that happen to be the main pain provokers you can avoid headaches for a long time.
High levels of nitrates can be found in some processed meats; hotdogs contain nitrites which are used as preservatives, primarily to combat botulism. During the cooking process, nitrites combine with amines naturally present in meat to form carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds. It is also suspected that nitrites can combine with amines in the human stomach to form N-nitroso compounds. These compounds are known carcinogens and have been associated with cancer of the oral cavity, urinary bladder, esophagus, stomach and brain- your on slot for a migraine could begin here.
A shift in barometric pressure may lead to headaches- migraine suffers should avoid especially hot times in the day, with a cool towel on the forehead and loose clothing this will help avoid some of the pressure. When its cold the density of the air in the atmosphere can lead to sinus headaches, so bundle up and drink a lot of water, if pain increases or you have several nose bleeds it's time to visit the doctor.
Getting enough sleep can be really hard at times but not as hard as fending off a migraine which does happen when we don't get enough sleep; Blood vessels in the brain dilate and activate the trigeminal nerve- the main nerve associated with migraines. Try to go to bed early and at the same time, if you know you are going to have a late night, try to get some cat naps in during you lunch hour.
There is no rule you have to eat what ever is placed in front of you, so take the time to figure out which, if any foods you like are bothering you and causing the onset of a headache and ban them from your diet and you will likely see the head aches decrease in your life.
