EFT Can Take Postnatal Blues Away
Around 1 in 10 mothers develop postnatal depression (PND) after having a baby. It is common for women following childbirth to go through a stage of 'low' mood. This can range in severity from a mild and normal period of mood disturbance ('baby blues'), and the most severe and rarest problem (postnatal psychosis). It is pretty normal to feel like this and hormonal responses have been connected to its onset, even though this might be just one influence. Fortunately, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a form of therapy which can be applied to help about postpartum depression.
EFT is identified as alternative psychotherapy and can be a brilliant way to drive out the harmful thoughts that several new moms have once they have given birth to their bouncing joy. It is a pleasingly simple yet influential way of discharging the mental, physical and emotional disorders associated to PND. EFT is an emotional balancing therapy which works by gently tapping on acupuncture points on the face, hands and torso while concentrating on the certain troubles, allowing them to come quickly to the surface and then released painlessly without any side-effect.
There are three stages of EFT in which someone will undergo. The first stage is referred to as the Baseline Phase, which is when the treatment is discussed and when the new mom has a chance to discuss how she feels and discusses her fears. The next step is called the Treatment Phase, which is when the process of the pressure on the points of the body is begun. This could be hard for a patient given that it means facing the feelings that they have been feeling and not just discussing about them.
The final stage is known as the Post-Treatment Phase. This is when the new moms would be asked to rate how intense their fear is. This will provide the professional a time to find out whether the treatment was effective or not. The new mom would have to go through another round of the second phase if the fears have not died-down or she might find that she no longer needs that type of help and just needs the support from her family.
